Asko Front Load Washer Dryer Combo WCAM1812W

Quality Always Come from Dedication It all began in 1950 in Vara, Sweden, when Karl Erik Andersson received his first order for a washing machine, from his mother. The farmer, Karl Erik, thought about it carefully and produced a washing machine that didn't look like washing machines did in those days. Word of the revolutionary model spread and nothing's been the same since. Karl Erik built a small factory on the farm and started making washing machines full time. A few years later he built his first dishwasher and tumble dryer. Business gathered momentum and more and more dishwashers, washing machines and dryers left the door of the small factory in Vara. Today, there are around 1,000 employed at production plants in Sweden and Finland, and countless more in sales companies in 35 countries around the world. In 1987, they opened their office in North America and today they are proudly sold by the number one team of independent dealers and distributors in the appliance industry. They are well aware that they have customers all over the world, all of whom place high demands on design, function and care for the environment. In 1999, their environmental work had advanced so far that they received environmental certification in accordance with ISO 14001. This meant a great deal to them, but even more for you and the environment. No space No ventilation No problem! The ASKO Combination Washer/Dryer is for people who have dreamed of having in home laundry capabilities, but don't have space for full-size machines. The new ASKO WCAM1812 has loads of features all packed into one hardworking, space saving appliance. Perfect for tight quarters, this efficient Combo means the end of shelling out quarters at the public laundromat. Important Combination Laundry Product Information The Asko combination laundry product (WCAM1812) is designed to provide the end consumer with a laundry solution where traditional stand alone laundry products are not acceptable due to space, plumbing or power supply limitations. This home laundry solution is designed to operate using a standard 110 volt household power supply and requires no external venting. ASKO 1812 combo- waste of money
Posted:9/25/09
" We have owned this machine 2 years now. Within the last 12 months it has needed repair twice, at a cost of over $600. The last guy just came out two days ago, and the machine is heating but not drying. DO NOT BUY this machine, it will suck you dry! "

Does not work
Posted:5/31/09
Pros: fit in a small space
Cons: does not work; asko no help at all. complete waste
" I bought the ASCO w/d combo unit last year. I have had a repairman out six times; first, the mother board went bad; second-sixth time: the dryer fanbelt gets stretched out so the dryer does not work. The last guy that was out said that the bearings are going out and will need to be replaced soon. That was four days ago. I washed and dried two very small loads using the Quick-wash cycle, and just tried the third load. I had to unload warm, completely wet clothes and hang them on the shower rod in the bathroom. Enough. I just want a reliable combo unit. Any suggestions? "

" I dont know how they can keep selling this product. It does not dry the clothes. I washed one pair of jeans and six hours of drying later the jeans were still damp and wrinkly. It is the biggest waste of space ever. I go to the laundry mat now. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Read the reviews first. "

4 years of failure
Posted:11/16/08
Pros: none
Cons: extremely poor reliability
" The machine has failed 4 times in the 4 years that I owned it. First time, heater wires broke and shorted internally. Second time control board was replaced. Third time was about 12 months ago. Now it has failed a 4th time, niether wash or dry cycle works. I will junk it unless the service guy can fix it for under $100. I've owned it just over 4 years. Do not buy this product. I am surprised to find that it is still being sold. "

Asko comes through

" This machine is great for small space and general use. It operates perfectly if the user follows manufactorer's directions. Overloading will result in poor washing. Clothes come out clean, fresh, without apparent wear by machine. Proper use and
the tumble method prevents clothes from bunching or intertwining.

ok, but not great

" I moved into a highrise apartment complex that had this model w/d in the apartment because there was not a place for the dryer to vent as well as limited space. I used this product for about 2 weeks and began driving about 15 minutes across town to the nearest laundry facility to do my clothes because the dry time was something unbelievable. After washing the small load,(3 shirts and about 4 pair of underwear) it took almost 6 hours to dry the clothes. I had thought I might have overloaded the unit so I tried doing just 2 dress shirts, same result. I do not have the time to wait for this machine to dry. If time is not an issue for your choice, this is a good machine. The clothes did come out very clean, but for the time you must wait for the clothes to dry, you could have done 3 loads in a conventional washer and dryer. "
