HOWEVER, all the instructions and even the salesperson ASSURED me that you could install a wall oven underneath it. The idea is that the blower motor can be installed on either side of the vent. The problem is that there is still the non-moveable lift motor on the front side that protrudes out about 5 inches. This one issue caused us to have to redo our whole appliance configuration, plus spend about $1000 to ship back and reorder some items that we now couldn't use. Please just know that it's a great vent, but there will ALWAYS be a motor on the front side. You can move the blower motor to the back, which is 10 inches deep), but the lift motor on the front is 5 inches and you cannot change that."

Review 2 for Whirlpool 30" Downdraft Ventilation System UXD8630DYS
Owned Product:0-6 months
Frequency of Use:Light
Would Recommend: No
Description / dimensions Misleading
Pros: unable to install
Cons: misleading dimensions and description
"The description of this vent highlights it's reversable blower motor that allows more installation options. What isn't stated and what isn't depicted in the drawings is the lift motor that remains protruding from the front of the hood where the blower motor was when moved to the rear. The hood actually gains about 5 inches in thickness when the blower motor is moved from front to back. I will acknowledge that this can be discovered by reading the full manual because instructions for reversing the blower motor include a step for adding a cover over the remaining lift motor. I think the general description (reversable blower) and certainly the drawings are misleading. That said, it may work quite well once installed but wouldn't fit in my application."
