Dacor 45" Sealed Burner Gas Cooktop SGM466

With six powerful burners and wide continuous platform grates, this cooktop is capable of accommodating both demanding recipes and chefs, and it's every bit as elegant as it is practical. This model features six burners with flame spreaders including two high-power 14,000 BTU burners. Just like with heat control, every aspect of this cooktop is designed to perform at a professional level to help you achieve professional results. The Permaflame feature ensures instant re-ignition so your cooking experience remains safe and uninterrupted. With the trademarked Smartflame technology, temperatures are reduced under each grate finger, protecting their beautiful finish and longevity. This cooktop is equipped with three 13" platform grates that provide a continuous and considerably greater cooking surface than standard grates, making it a pleasure to cook with oversized pots, pans and even woks. If you dread the cleanup that cooktops entail, you'll be sure to take comfort in this hood's spill basin and completely sealed gas burners. In short, this is a top-quality model that combines high-power, style and convenience-everything a serious cooktop should be.

So glad I bought a Dacor 16 years ago!
Posted:3/3/12
Pros: top grade stainless easy to clean.
Cons: none.
"We moved into our new house July 4, 1996. I am a very messy gourmet cook, have lots of company and often use all six burners. I've made it a habit to never cook without wiping down the top with a rag and plain old water. Don't even need cleaners except occasionally I use a mild dish soap. If grease gets cooked on around the burners, I use stainless cleaner and a soft cloth and it comes right off. My cooktop looks like brand new. Nobody can believe its age.
The reason I'm on this web site is that after 16 years, I want new knobs because I accidentally broke one of the backplates and some of the color is worn off the knobs, and guess what? I can still get them! Yea Dacor!
If you have room, get this cooktop!"

Dacor 45" Sealed Burner Gas Cooktop SGM466

Pros: ease of cleaning nice looking stainless burners
Cons: $1849 price is about $300-$400 more than it should
"This Dacor 46" stainless steel cooktop was purchased as the only other alternative to our broken Viking DGCU1556BSBLP cooktop (the original Viking's glass broke after 2 and a half years). Since we had installed the Viking through a granite countertop with a 45" wide opening, we were forced to find a suitable replacement for that size. After painfully negotiating a replacement for our original Viking GCU1556BSBLP, the second Viking's glass cooktop also broke due to a defective heat design (after 1 and a half years). Dacor was the only other manufacturer out there still making something that could be used as a replacement (although an additional 1.75" of granite countertop had to be removed). Well, it was all DEFINITELY worth it! The Dacor is superior to the Viking in cooking and keeping it clean with minimal effort."

Expensive, but good!

Pros: various btu burners easy to clean looks good
Cons: expensive needs better grate coating ignitor
"I also had an old Decor cooktop for 20 years. Grates started to wear out. Pain to clean. This BLACK unit is great for cleaning and looks good. However in the 5 months of using I noticed the grates are showing a little wear. The paint(?) on the grates are starting to show white, like the paint is wearing off! On a $1700 unit? Couldn't Decor have the grates enameled like the old one? Also, the ignitor can "click" for 5-10 seconds AFTER ignited! It's normal per Decor manual."

great value

Pros: easy clean attractive appearance
Cons: none so far
"I had to buy Dacor, as my granite was cut for a Dacor 6 burner cooktop from 20 years ago. The old one was unsealed , which made it impossible to clean thoroughly. The electric ignition failed twice, which is maybe par for the course in 20 years of use. In any case, this new one performs well and is MUCH easier to clean. It's attractive , does the job for my cooking, and is less expensive than most other 6 burner cooktops. I am very pleased with my purchase so far."
