I SO regret designing my kitchen around this junk
Posted:1/25/16
Pros: it's attractive for a little while when it's new
Cons: poor quality, must be repaired regularly, weak for front burners-too strong for back burners, cuts into available space for large pots, poor quality finish bubbles and scratches easily, buttons are very hard to press--often unresponsive
" I have just called the Dacor repair folks for the 5th time on this piece of junk. The beauty of this product is that we were able to design a cooktop island without an overhead vent. That part is wonderful. However the downsides appeared immediately and it only got worse over the years.
First, the performance (when it's working):
- The buttons are not responsive. It often takes several tries to get the thing to go up or down.
- When cooking on the front burners, it doesn't do the greatest job because it's some distance behind them.
- When cooking on the back burners, the vent is so close that it actually diminishes the flame. When simmering at the lowest flame, the draft actually can blow it out.
- When raised, the downdraft interferes with the back burner space. Only small pots can be used.
- The finish on the top of the downdraft has bubbled and peeled. So much for being sleek and attractive.
Those are the drawbacks WHEN IT WORKS AT ALL. Unfortunately, this unit has completely stopped working FOR THE FIFTH TIME. An item this expensive should be a little more reliable, don't you think? I'd rip it out in a heartbeat, but I designed the whole kitchen around it.
Very disgusted and disappointed. Can't recommend Dacor. "

Pros: looks great. worked well when it wasn't broken.
Cons: company did not stand behind product.
" I loved the look and function. HOWEVER, within the first year I had the control panel replaced . The repairman said you can't get the control pad wet or dirty. What do you do about steam and oil cooking if it can't withstand the things it's suppose to remove? The second year I had to replace the control panel again. The 5th year they told me they could no longer get the parts. Now I just live with no ventilation system. Would not buy Dacor again. They did not stand behind their product!!! "
