BlueStar 36" Freestanding Gas Range RNB36

Since 1880, BlueStar has committed to producing the finest cooking equipment available. Originally a manufacturer of high-powered commercial ranges, today BlueStar markets exclusively to the residential market. BlueStar acquired its name from the shape and color of its open burner flame. Their products are hand assembled in Reading, Pennsylvania. BlueStar ranges provide up to 22,000 BTUs of cooking power for consistent, controlled heat and shorter cooking times. And for delicate soups and sauces, no stove matches BlueStar's gentle simmer. Heavy-duty construction combined with innovative features produce an appliance of uncompromising durability, functionality and beauty that will be the focal point of your kitchen for years to come. If you love to cook, you deserve a hand-crafted BlueStar range. All Bluestar ranges have 24" depth for compatibility with standard kitchen cabinetry. Their cast iron porcelain-enameled NOVA and SUPERNOVA top burners are the most versatile burners in the industry. The NOVA burner provides up to 15,000 BTU's, SUPERNOVA delivers an amazing 22,000 BTU's and the simmer burner has a rating of 130F. With Convection Oven Cooking, the cavity design of the oven and the convection fan system result in the most complete exchange of air possible. This provides incredible precise, even heat distribution. The direct-fired ceramic infrared broiler is standard on all residential ranges because of its popularity in the commercial market. The large burner produces 1850F of intense, searing heat close to the burner. The broiler is fully recessed into the oven's top to create maximum cooking space. The BlueStar 36" RNB Series (Residential Premier Burner) has the largest oven capacity available on a 36" range. It accommodates a full-size commercial 18" x 26" baking sheet.

outstanding range

Pros: performance simplicity beauty
Cons: none
"I went with the bluestar range for a few reasons:
-high output burners and general performance
-configurable setup of burners/griddles/grill etc...at purchase
-pick a color, any color
-minimal electronics, as I'd heard horror stories about electronic boards burning out on other, better-known brands
So far, after a year of use, it has totally delivered. I got mine with a griddle and love it. Really nice burner controls...no 'cliffs' when adjusting burner output.
If there was anything at all negative to say would be that the oven takes a long time to preheat. The stove is a tank and just takes a while to get up to a stable temp, particularly if you are baking pizza and are running at its hottest.
I will definitely buy another one for my next kitchen.

Best Decision!

Pros: makes cooking very efficient!
Cons: too heavy
"I completely remodeled my entire kitchen and purchased all of my appliances from AJMadison. I am pleased to report that my appliances arrived without any physical damage or scratches.
I've had my range now for about 2 1/2 weeks and love my new range!! Everything cooks so fast and efficiently. The simmer feature is awesome. Finally, I can make cream sauce without spilling over. Stir frying with a wok is the best. You can remove the stove top and place the wok directly under the burner. You will cook like a chef! The power of this range is amazing but use with caution as it gets extremely hot.
Although I have not baked any cookies or dessert in my oven, I did use it to slowly bake my ribs at 350 degrees. Normally this would take me at least 1 1/2 hour but with my new range, it took 30-45 mins. The fan convection system is icing on the cake. This makes a gas range a "true convection" oven.
I will start baking this weekend and am confident that I will be pleased with the results.
Lastly, you will need to have your range installed by professional installers who has the proper equipment to wheel and move around the range as it weighs 460 lbs. If you're spending over $5000 for a professional range, what's another $325 to have it installed--totally worth it and will extend your manufacturers warranty by another year."

Pros: large oven and functionality

"Upon building a new home, my wife and I decided to purchase a Blue Star range, after previously having cooked on a Viking that had served us well for a number of years. When the Blue Star arrived, mounting brackets for the high shelf attachment were missing from the order, so we were unable to install the range. As a result, we did not remove the protective plastic Blue Star applied to stainless surfaces. A month of calling and e-mailing passed before we finally received the missing brackets. Upon removing protective plastic, we discovered unsightly abrasions on stainless finish. Blue Star refused to replace the damaged piece because we had not notified them within a week of receiving the range, even though the delay was caused by their failure to ship mounting brackets for the high shelf. We are pleased with the cooking performance, but we were also pleased with our Viking's performance. A product is only as good as the support behind it."

Best Range we could find
Posted:2/7/10
Pros: btu output easy maintenance/servicability
Cons: not many on display in showrooms
"We love this range. We looked at every other brand and almost bought a Viking because of the name. After researching and cooking on several we bought the Blue Star. It has been almost a year and has worked perfect. The white glove service was great and should be offered by all the higher end manufactures. This unit should last forever with how easy it is to service due to the lack of electronics. No maintenance headaches like friends have had with the Wolf and Viking units. The cast iron top is very easy to clean and keep looking new."
