Make room for the new range in town! Posted: 10/31/09
Pros: 4 15k burners restaurant quality

"This oven has exceeded my expectations. Set-up and installing was very easy. Did it myself! Range is built very solid and heavy! Knobs, grates, oven racks and door feel very substantial when turning, pulling, opening. I've owned this range for 6-7 months and I'm pleased with every use. One of many selling points are the 4 15k burners. You can't get that on GE Cafe, DCS, Viking, etc. Next the convection... sweet!!! Perfect for pizza! 3yrs ago I purchased a mid-priced whrilpool, self cleaning and electronic display. Also, a 12k, 2- 10k, 5k simmer burner. The only burner we used was the 12k! Then the electronic display broke and suddenly no oven! This time, I was going to pay more for better quality. Had to swallow hard at the prices for DCS, Viking, Wolf, but... was willing... Did a search and found NXR. Who? Took a gamble and won! When friends come over (who own DCS, Wolf, etc.) they can't believe what I got for what I paid. They are most impressed with the FOUR 15k burners, that the GE cafe' series doesn't have and it's $3k. Face it, some people chase name brands with out fully looking under the hood! So, lesson here buy up for value/quality, not name brand alone."

Initial Impression Posted: 10/9/08
Pros: price, looks, build quality, high power burners
Cons: it would be nice to have full width grates

"This oven replaced a $1700 Amana range. For a very small increase in price I got a much nicer range. The amana range was about half the weight of the new NXR range. If weight is any indication of quality, this will last a long time! I have found the oven to be about 50 degrees below the set point in actual temperature, though. But this is easily remedied by the infinately adjustable knob. The look of the appliance is top notch. The only complaint here is this: I would have prefered full width grates. The legs are very easily adjustable and stout. You'll need very sturdy legs to support the 310 lbs of this stove! 4 15.5k burners is a nice thing to have, even too much for most folks, I think. Dual ring burners make adjustability easy and slick. Knobs on the front of the range are actual metal, not just plastic colored like metal. Hook up and install was simple, and the blue interior sets everything off nicely. I also enjoy the convection fan which can be activated independantly from the heating element- this can be used to aid defrosting of frozen meats, etc..
All in all, my first impressions are very good. I will report back after I have more time with the range
