Not what I expected
Pros: center burner power, control layout, burner spacing, nice overall appearance
Cons: no burner re-ignition, grate surface not truly flat, minor blemishes in finish up close, plastic knobs will eventually melt
"After measuring carefully to determine burner spacing it came down to the Bosch 800 series and this cooktop. The LG had the edge when it came to the power of the center burner and the overall burner diversity. The control layout of the LG allowed for a 10" pot to be boiling on the center burner while both lower burners could have a 12" pan centered on them. Perfect!
But not quite. It never even occured to me that a modern cooktop would not have automatic re-ignition if a burner blew out. My previous old Jenn-Air did, so I just expected such a safety feature to be there. Alas, it is not...a big disappointment. My wife and I are multi-taskers in the kitchen and now we're going to have to keep an eye on burners that are at a simmer.
Knowing what I know now I would have sacrificed the center burner power and burner spacing and would purchase the Bosch instead.
Another thing...the burners are not really sealed as advertised. The spillover well is quite deep and so it's unlikely a spill would get into the innards. But still, it is not sealed. I don't quite understand how they get away with making that claim. However, the burners are really easy to clean, an advantage over the sealed version.
Also, the grates do not present you with a flat surface. All of our pans, mostly All-Clad, rock a bit on them. For $1200 that's just not good at all. We'll learn to deal with it.
So all in all, in spite of what I believed was a careful purchase, I made the wrong choice. We'll accept the positives and hope not to blow up the house if a burner blows out."
