Poor quality
Posted:5/11/12
Pros: looks nice
Cons: breaks, customer service sucks
" I like how this compactor looks with the full SS panel. It does the job compacting trash (though it is quite loud - I heard much quieter compactors). The big thing that bugs me is the quality - it broke 3 times in the 3 years I had it. First the nylon gear stripped and luckily was replaced under warranty. Then the actuator switch broke - twice! KitchenAid now has a redesigned switch, but the customer service denies there is a design flaw and refused to repair it outside of warranty - or even to provide the redesigned switch at no charge. "

Disappointed
Posted:3/2/12
" Sorry, but this KitchenAid doesn't live up to my experience with my last KitchenAid. It performs well enough, but the pedal is too narrow and too slick to get an easy footing when trying to open the compactor. Secondly, the pedal mechanism is poorly engineered and clanky so when you close the drawer it sounds like a cheap toy. I called KitchenAid to inquire as to whether it was installed correctly or whether there were any possible adjustments. No luck! I'm very disappointed. "

Pros: integrated design
Cons: faulty manufacturing design
" PURCHASED KUCS03FT AS PART OF A NEW $100K KITCHEN - WOLF, THERMADOR, BOSCH, KITCHENAID. THE COMPACTOR ACTUATOR SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED 5 TIMES WITHIN THE FIRST 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. KITCHENAID/WHIRLPOOL OFFERED NO HELP. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE TECH THAT THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW, BUT KITCHENAID DID NOT MAKE IT RIGHT. - KITCHENAID IS NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS WOLF, THERMADOR OR BOSCH. "
