Pros: classy professional style large storage, excellent product
Cons: cost of an experienced installer to, install the trim kit. pricey but worth it to have, trim kit attached. if you are not putting it in, cabinet sides are white.
"First of all, I read so many negative things about this set that I almost didn't buy it. I contacted electrolux direct to find out what was up. Models older than May 09 had issues. They have been fixed and these are a dream come true. I have wanted to increase the size of my frig/freezer and I hated the depth of the side by sides etc. I couldn't be happier with my set. I bought both! It is so classy looking with the trim kit attached and the space inside is EXCELLENT! When you shut the freezer you can actually hear the door get sucked in tight, that is how efficient it is. I find both the frig and freezer keep food extremely cold, I had to raise the temperature to the middle setting it is perfect! You would never know it makes ice, it is so quiet! Both the frig n freezer come with charcoal filters that can easily be changed...keeping odors to a minimum.
The fridge has too many shelves...but that isn't really a problem, I put one away in storage just in case anything happens to a shelf.
The drawers have a lot of separaters in them, so you can store many different items in the drawers.
Things you should know before buying:
1)The units come with white sides, and will look it's best surrounded by cabinets.
2)The trim kit makes a HUGE difference in how it looks, if you can afford it, get it!
3) The only con I found is installation of the trim kit.
ONLY use an experienced installer to do the trim kit. It took my installer around 4 hours to install it. And he was experienced. It is imparative that the installer knows what he is doing, it must be level. Expect to pay upwards of $400.00 for the installation. (Ask installer how much they charge an hour) When I look at my set, I can only say one thing..."worth every dollar". Sub zero's are always in repair, these have the same look for so much less and are more durable in the end.
If you are buying these at the time of a kitchen renovation, I highly recommend planning for side cabinet(s) and even storage cabinets above.
