nice product Posted: 11/1/09
Pros: all the extra features plus works great
Cons: bucket design

"Works well so far. I have used this product for only 1 month so I cannot speak for longevity, but, so far it's working great. I bought it for the basement because our smaller dehumidifier couldn't keep up with the moisture. However, I like it so much, I may keep it upstairs. I run it when I am in the shower and the mirrors don't fog up at all. I also like how it warms up the bathroom when it is running. It makes it very comfortable. The humidity reading is also useful. I like knowing what the exact humidity of the room is. Another good feature is the energy star rating. Hard to go wrong with that. I am seriously considering buying another one. The only thing holding me back is the cost. So far my only complaint would be the design of the bucket. It is shaped in such a way that can make it tricky to empty neatly. It is easier to empty into a bathtub than it is into a sink. (water tends to pour out 3 or 4 different areas all at the same time no matter how I hold the bucket)."

Great Product, Slow Shipping Posted: 10/30/09
Pros: on board displays / low noise / auto tank drain
Cons: shipping

"AJ Madison took 11 days to get the product out their door, and only after a few emails were sent.

The Danby DDR7009REE dehumidifier has been running in our basement non-stop since it was received a month ago. The temp & humidity level displays are very helpful to casually monitor status. It makes about as much noise as a fan running on low or medium. The automatic drain keeps it running without dumping the tank. We ran the drain tube into the condensate pump for the house AC unit, which periodically pumps it outside.

Great product and great price but might think twice before ordering from AJ Madison again.

A Must Posted: 10/27/09
Pros: everything
Cons: none

"I have owned three other dehumidifiers. The worst in quality and highest in price was an LG. I did research on the Danby DDR7009ree and others for about six months and found DANBY with best reviews and a fair price. I would advise anyone who buys a unit like this to buy a long extended warranty. I bought one for two years beyond the two year warranty that came with this great performer. The 700 is quite and the most reliable dehumidifier that I have owned to date.

I live in Tennessee where the humidity is high even in the winter months. The area is also known to be bad for allergies IE: severe sinus problems .

My health has much improved since I have been using this powerful machine.

Danby Dehumidifier Posted: 10/25/09
"An excellent value and quality machine with energy star ratings.
Big concern is that I cannot leave the unit running with a preset humidity and have it shut down when that humidity level is reached.

I have had poor quality units with a humidity setting and unit would shut off when level reached.

Danby dehumidifier Posted: 10/20/09
Pros: works
Cons: fan runs 24/7 with no way to shut it off, insanely slow shipping

"It's a little annoying that you can't turn off the (noisy) fan, but otherwise seems to be a great little machine. AJ Madison had this item for cheaper than anywhere else, but their shipping was absurdly slow. The item was in stock but took over two weeks to arrive. Most of that time it was sitting in their warehouse. I live less than an hour's drive from their location, so I have no idea why it took so long to be shipped."

The real deal Posted: 10/17/09
Pros: easy to use performs as promised
Cons: shipping could have been faster

"I've had this product for about a week and really it delivers. It's super quiet and really pulls the moisture out of the air. My basement already smells much better. I haven't used the auto drain feature yet, but I'm sure it will function as advertised. It's early in the process, but if the unit keeps doing what it's doing, I'm happy. Pricing on this site was also competitive so I also felt like I got a reasonable deal. My only complaint was the fact shipping took almost two weeks... slower than I expected."

Does a great job Posted: 10/14/09
Pros: clean quiet and quickly removes moisture.
Cons: lacks a pump but i knew that when i purchased it.

"I purchased to replace a Delongi humidifier that has a pump which broke after 2 years of use. By far ths does a superior job. It is quiet, quicker and easy to operate. I am very happy with this Danby humidifier and would highly recommend it."

Very good dehumidifier Posted: 10/1/09
Pros: nice handle on bucket, really pulls in water
Cons: noisy bucket rather small

"I have only used it a couple of time, but on high it sure fills up quickly and drys out the room. If fact, it I need to leave it on low or in three hours the bucket is full. My only problem with this machine is the sound which on low is still a bit noisy. But if it's not in your bedroom, it shouldn't matter that much."

Works great with correctable design flaw Posted: 9/27/09
Pros: works great. relatively quiet.
Cons: drain hose needs plug to operate properly, which isn't supplied with unit and must be ordered, fan stays on when unit cycles off.

"I purchased this dehumidifier for a damp basement. The old 40 pint Fridgidaire dehumidifier that was present when I purchased the house was not sufficient and wasn't getting the humidity down below 65%.

This dehumidifier is super. The humidity dropped 20% to 45%, which was my target. It is also much quieter than the Fridgidaire I had.

The only problem is a design flaw with the continuous drain hose. When the hose is attached, some water still drops into the bucket, which then has to be emptied every day, defeating the purpose of having a continuous drain.

This problem was cheerfully fixed by Danby customer service by sending me a plug that covered the drip hole for the bucket. Now all the water goes out the hose and the unit works great.

Another small annoyance is that the fan doesn't turn off when the unit reaches the desired humidity. The dehumidifier unit turns off, but the fan stays on. This is a small quirk in an otherwise great product.

Good dehumidifier for the money Posted: 9/22/09
"I've gone through a lot of dehumidifiers. None of them seem to last long but this is the best so far. It works perfectly and really gets the humidity out of the air quickly. Can't tell yet how long it will last since I have only had it for a few months but everything seems to be looking good so far."

Does The Job Posted: 9/11/09
Pros: easy to operate. does the job.
Cons: calibration issue

"The 70-pint Danby has a known calibration problem that causes the bucket to not drain when using the auto-drain feature with the hose provided. It took over a week for Danby to send me a small rubber insert which seems to fix the problem. My damp basement is the dryest it's ever been since I upgraded from a 25-pint to 70-pint unit. Size matters."

What a great dehumidifier! Posted: 8/24/09
Pros: quiet quick and easy to use.
Cons: needs a larger bucket or a pump since it is so, good at removing moisture. it needs to be emptied, every 5-6 hours.

"I just received my Danby DDR7009Ree dehumidifier. The order and delievery process was excellent. The dehumidifier was easy to setup and use within minutes. The machine is doing an excellent job in removing the mositure in my basement. It is very quiet compared to my previous DeLongi dehumidifier. It is amazing in how much water it is removing compare to the other machine. The only feature that I wished was improved is a larger bucket. This dehumidifier is removing so much water that I have to empty it several times a day. Otherwise I couldn't asked for a better aplliance."
