"After researcing for the right a/c unit for literally months I finally decided on the Carrier. On auto/high cool you can't hardly stay in the room it gets so cold. I finally tried the auto mode and set it for 72 degrees and it works fantastic. Quiet too.
But It. You won't be sorry."

Worst documentation I've ever seen

Pros: heats and cools
Cons: loud no low flow setting

"The Carrier installation manual has low resolution black and white photos that are supposed to illustrate where various foam blocks go and the blocks are absolutely not visible in the photos. Very amateurish.

The unit itself seems to work although it is very noisy. The design calls for a loud fan turning on every 10 minutes to sample air temperature and decide if the compressor should kick in -- not an ideal behavior for sleeping! There also appears to be no way of mixing fresh air with the recirculating stream -- although I could be mistaken about that since the manual makes no mention of it.

I bought the steel wall sleeve at the same time and was distressed to find that it is about an inch larger than the printed specs. The installation manual talks at length about installing the unit in other manufacturer's sleeves but makes no particular mention I could find of the sleeve Carrier ships with the unit.

I have no experience with competitive heating/cooling units so for all I know this is the best of the lot. But surely there is no excuse for the low quality documentation."

"I looked everywhere for a ac/heater combo unit to go into an attic space I was converting to a bedroom. This carrier is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It operates at a whisper and the auto setting keeps it from running full tilt 24-7. The remote is a free but extrainous feature. Installation was a breeze as well. Excellent product for this through the wall application."

Great Unit

"I bought this unit to cool down our garage, we use the garage for grooming our two bichons. Living in Az. it gets pretty hot(so far this summer,117 deg/low of 92). It took no time at all to cool down the room, and will hold the temp at a comfortable 78. Have not got a full months elect bill, it's be installed for about 3 weeks, so we will wait and see. Remote is a must and the digital read out is large and bright. For such a large unit it is quite. Have not had any bad or not so good, and I am not expecting any."

"We turned our 30 foot wide by 50 foot length attic space into a lovely room a few years ago, using a window airconditioner for cooling. It upset me each summer we used the window unit losing the beautiful view from that side of our yard and the adjoining farmland. We found your web site and ordered your "THROUGH-THE-WALL HEAT/AIR CONDITIONER." It very QUIETLY cools the entire room and looks great! We are so pleased and thankful to finally have a great cooling/heating through-the-wall unit with the added bonus that it does not obstruct the view from our window."

A very good machine that comes through

"This machine is in an addition to the house that could not have HVAC. We replaced a 19 year old through the wall unit with this one, and it has been perfect thus far. Once the wall sleeve was put in (not very easy but ok), it was simply a matter of sliding in the unit, adding the foam insulation, and turning it on. The remote works great, and the auto fan and temp settings are very helpful. A powerful machine that when coupled with a ceiling fan to just help circulate the air does wonders quickly."

GREAT LITTLE A/C

"I bought this to replace an old unit. The instructions were a little confusing, but I think it was mostly because I was using the original oversize case.

The unit works great. It is much quieter than my old unit and the remote is a great feature.

I haven't tried the heat function yet, so cannot comment on that aspect, but with global warming I may not need to use it."
