Decent, gets job done

Pros: effective, inexpensive for its class, auto on/off works quite well Cons: a little loud, cheaper-feeling materials, does not circulate air well from low position
"I needed something to use a 250v plug (only dedicated circuit near the wall slip), and this seemed to fit the bill. It cools the larger room well even on the hottest days (and I have very high ceilings). Because my A/C sleeve is near the floor, sometimes I need to put an oscillating fan in front of it to circulate the air more evenly.
Overall, I am satisfied with this unit, although it isn't perfect: The materials seem cheaper than my previous, cheaper 10,000BTU 115v Kenmore unit (including the controls, the filter, the body, the remote). It is louder than I expected, but I've heard worse. It doesn't circulate air very well from its position, although my last unit did (thus the need for the additional fan, which remedies the problem but adds to the noise and energy use).
To reiterate: I'm satisfied with this overall and would recommend it in this price range."

Pros: relatively quiet cools and dehumidifies well Cons: limited functionality on the remote, but most ac remote controls are like that
"This Carrier AC works as it should, which might not sound like a profound statement, but sadly I can't say that of most other ACs that I have purchased in the past, and I've had quite a few different ones. It makes the room comfortable and cools well, even when the temperature went into the 90's and outdoors was very humid - you could not tell what was going on outside until you stepped out. It dehumidifies the air well and, on high, has sufficient thrust so that you can feel the air flow 25 feet away (good for long rooms).
I am very sensitive to noise and hate the hum that most ACs make - with this unit even up close I have difficulty hearing the compressor and most of the time I don't know whether the compressor is on or off from the sound. All I hear is the air flow which is a white noise and this aspect is fairly quiet when on low; fairly audible but not disturbing when on high. Absolutely no squeaks or rattles. It came with a lot of stuff to help installation - weather stripping and wedges to seal and orient the unit.
A hint on the front trim - you need to assemble it when the unit is in place, behind the power cord (otherwise you can't slip it over the cord and it is not easy to take apart to redo - as I found out :-)) Everything else on installation was straight forward."

"This through the wall air conditioner is proving to be a much better unit than our previous one which had a higher btu rating. The electronic controls along with the remote are so convenient. The unit goes on and off as necessary and keeps a steady temperature throughout our house, yes, our whole house, all 1200 square feet of it. The quietness is more than I had hoped for. It is more like a white noise, not invasive or interupting. We can talk, watch TV or sleep without any problem. We have only been using it for three weeks but I can't think of any complaint about it, it even looks nice."

"The air conditioner works very well. Our apartment is on two levels and this one unit takes care of the entire place, and does a great job.[...] The unit does make a lot of crackling noises in the humidity, but our apartment is always cool, so we're happy."
